Blue Are You?

I chipped a nail this morning! Gasp! Actually, it's all good. Gives me an excuse to show you another blue polish on Autism Awareness Day!

Well... That's a very accurate description. I bought this polish over a month ago. I believe the disclaimer was NOT there at the time. Anyway...

I have to admit, I'm having a love-hate relationship with this polish. It's unique and GORGEOUS in the bottle. It's gorgeous on the nail too, but... Yes, it's thick. My bottle is SO thick that even with nine drops of polish thinner it's still gloppy and pasty. So... When you look closely, you can see its bumpy and thick and it didn't spread well. Now, I believe I read on either Facebook or Instagram that Roxette switched to a thinner base recently, so I assume its not as big an issue as it is with my bottle.

It mad me pretty sad, actually. I tried to do thinner coats, but, especially around the edges of my nail by the skin, it just wouldn't play nice. Sigh.

But it's so stinking pretty! If it were thinner, I would use it more. I am not sure how often I will use this particular bottle. I wish I knew if others have had better experiences. I'm waiting to hear back from Roxette.

Anyway. It is stunning to look at, the hexes are a bit sheer and the two coats I use look so deep and mystical. And the jelly is highly pigmented and so bright it looks almost like it glows!

Glowin Glitz by Lavish Polish

It's Autism Awareness day! I decided it would be a great day to wear and review this blue polish, "Glowin Glitz" by Lavish Polish, which I purchased for review.

The slogan for Autism Awareness is "Light It Up Blue." And what so you know- this polish is perfect for that.

"Glowin Glitz" is described as:
Glowin Glitz is a glow in the dark blue jelly with fine blue & silver hex
and silver & teal medium squares.

The silver squares tend to be holographic, from my experience. The polish definitely feels glitzy on the nails, full of sparkle! I used two coats over a white base. The glitters don't seem chunky, but for some reason with only one layer of top coat it wasn't completely smooth, so you might want to use two.

Dry time was normal. The glitters dispersed well. The jelly base isn't as dark blue as I thought by the description, but I really like it.

Oh, and, uh... It glows in the dark. Light it up! It's a glowing bright aqua-esque blue!

Now, normally, I wouldn't jump at the idea of a glowing polish, but I thought Spencer might get a kick out of it, and I also thought that as a reviewer, I could stand to be out of my comfort zone occasionally.

At first, Spencer (29 months old) was creeped out by the polish and screamed when I reached out to touch him. But then he thought it was "cool dude blue fingers!"

I don't know a lot about glowing polishes so I can't really say if it's better or worse than one should expect, but the glow has been noticeable now for 40 minutes as I sit in the dark as Collin finishes his bottle (it's nearly midnight-thirty), though its starting to be dimmer. It was really bright blue at first, but now more a pale blue. It's definitely a unique effect! It's distracting, but not in a bad way, other than Collin would rather play with my fingers in the dark than drink his bottle at first.

Overall, this is a fun and quirky polish. I do in fact like it!

Update: at 4:40am, after being in bed for three and a half hours, when Collin woke, I could still see my nails glowing in the dark room. They aren't bright enough to capture on cell phone cancer, but they are still quite visible to the eye. That's pretty awesome, no? They look a very light blue/white.

This polish is called....

A Silicone Deer.

Anyone able to guess why?

Anyway, this polish is a custom creation for us by Gabrielle of GG Couture Lacquer.

A Silicone Deer is a medium gray jelly polish. It smells of oat, milk, and honey. Yummy. It has metallic teal circle glitter, and small metallic teal, holographic teal, matte white, and matte bright yellow hexes.

It's sheer and build able.

It's designed after our gray and white Chevron aprons from Butterfly Designs. Desi's had yellow trim and Nik's has teal.

Nik's photos show A Silicone Deer over NYC Sidewalkers. The middle and ring fingernails have two coats of A Silicone Deer, and the rest have one.

Also, there are two with matte topcoat, which Nik put on two days later. It looks fabulous both ways!

Desi decided to show A Silicone Deer over a beautiful teal called "Go Overboard" by Essie. This is one coat of Go Overboard with 2 coats of A Silicone Deer. Pre-cleanup, as usual. Sorry.

But I love this. I don't want to take it off. And it smells amazing. Yep. Scented nail polish, y'all. It's a winner!

How cute is that GG bottle? A bow & a gem on top? Classy! Love it!

Warrior

Today I'm featuring a polish that was a free gift with purchase! It is "Warrior" by Daring Digits.

It's currently sold out, but not listed in the retiring polishes so I think it will be back!

When I saw the name, I must admit, I started singing "shooting at the walls of heartache, bang! Bang! I am the warrior!"

And... When I was polishing my nails, still singing it... And now I can't get it out of my head. Thanks, Patty Smyth.

The polish, however, is from her World of Warcraft collection and unrelated to the song in my head. I don't, nor have I ever, play that game.

On the site it's described as a gunmetal gray holographic base with silver glitters. I'm glad I read the description because at first glance, I didn't see the holo. That gave me the perfect excuse to sneak outside really quick and check it in the sunlight, and it is indeed holographic!

I used two coats. It's not opaque, but it's close. Three or four would have done it. Goes on easy and evenly. Normal dry time. Glossy!
