I've got a date with super heroes.

Laugh all you want, but the title is true. Tonight, I'm dating both Spider-Man and Superman!

Okay... Maybe I'm really going to a Go Fish concert with my husband and sons, but kids who dress up like superheroes get a free glow stick. So, I'll be bringing a 2.5 year-old Spider-Man and a 9 month old Superman.

I'm pretty excited, so, I decided to do a superhero inspired manicure for the event. I will not get a glow stock, but I don't need one anyway. I know Collin will share.

The polishes used in this manicure were all purchased by me, with the exception of Daring Digits (www.ddpolish.com) All Peppered Up, which was given to me as a free gift with purchase.

To begin, my ring finger was painted with two coats Sally Hansen Golden-I. (I lie, the middle was too, but I smudged it and decided to change it...)

My pinky is Zoya Asia.

All other fingers are Savina Caribbean.

I stamped with MASH - 11, stars. Golden-I over Asia, Asia over Golden-I, and Golden-I over Caribbean.

Then, the nails I didn't stamp, I have one coat of All Peppered Up!

Voila!

My right hand is all Caribbean and All Peppered Up. I took a macro photo, but it's blurry because I couldn't hold still, and I forgot to clean it up, first.

Whoopsies.

Thoughts?!

Carl - Daring Digits

When I ordered a few polishes from Daring Digits, Ashley threw in a couple extras.

Today, I am showing you "Carl," one of the gift polishes.

Daring Digits polishes can be purchased at:
http://www.ddpolish.com

Now, I'm a little confused about this Carl situation, because I can't find swatches or info about it anywhere. I emailed her asking if its a discontinued, or a new polish, or what, but haven't heard bank yet. I will update when I do.

I would describe it as a white-ish crelly base, with the slightest gray tiny. It has small matte bright blue hexes, and shiny (not metallic) larger yellow hexes. It also has small black bar glitter.

As I've mentioned before, as a general rule, I don't like bar glitter.

When I saw the polish in the bottle, I initially liked it. I've gone back and forth about it ever since. I love the bright blue and yellow against the white, but the bar glitters... Not so much. For a while they reminded me of salt and pepper, and then I liked it.

The polish is opaque-ish in three coats. I used a very light gray base. It dries well, and shiny. The glitters disperse with ease.

I like it best from afar. It's unique, and the colors are fun. But, after wearing it all day, looking at it up close, the bar glitter reminds me of our bathroom sink after my husband shaves... whisker stubble. I guess the manly name fits that way?

I can't decide if I like it. It's a great quality, like all the others of this brand, but... The black bars just... not my thing. If they were micro glitter hexes, I think I would like it much more!

Photos outside and inside! Sorry for the poor clean-up. We headed to the park and I forgot.

UPDATE:
Ashley responded!
"Carl is part of my Aquateen Hunger force collection. I am hoping to launch it in May :-)"

Warrior

Today I'm featuring a polish that was a free gift with purchase! It is "Warrior" by Daring Digits.

www.ddpolish.com

It's currently sold out, but not listed in the retiring polishes so I think it will be back!

When I saw the name, I must admit, I started singing "shooting at the walls of heartache, bang! Bang! I am the warrior!"

And... When I was polishing my nails, still singing it... And now I can't get it out of my head. Thanks, Patty Smyth.

The polish, however, is from her World of Warcraft collection and unrelated to the song in my head. I don't, nor have I ever, play that game.

On the site it's described as a gunmetal gray holographic base with silver glitters. I'm glad I read the description because at first glance, I didn't see the holo. That gave me the perfect excuse to sneak outside really quick and check it in the sunlight, and it is indeed holographic!

I used two coats. It's not opaque, but it's close. Three or four would have done it. Goes on easy and evenly. Normal dry time. Glossy!

Here are my photos! Enjoy!

Time to Pretend, Follow!

This post is... partially sponsored, I guess you could say? Both of these polishes were gifts with my purchase from other polishes. Polishes from these lines can be purchased at the following sites.

ggcouturenaillacquer.etsy.com

www.ddpolish.com

Sorry, again, I blog from an iPhone app that doesn't allow me to hot link.

Today's manicure is comprised of GG Couture Nail Lacquer's"Time to Pretend" and Daring Digits "Follow."

First off, "Time to Pretend," is a yummy shimmery pumpkin color. It really reminds me of pumpkin pie. When I first unwrapped it, I thought "Yum!" Haha. I have no polish this shade in my collection, which is a bonus.

It is amazing. I was unsure how it would look against my skin tone, but I really like it. It's got a brown undertone, I think.

This polish honestly was completely opaque with no streaking or thin spots in one coat.

ONE COAT.

You don't run into that often, in my experience. That means the bottle should last twice as long, right? It went on so beautifully. Luscious, I think. Ah! And it dried well.

Oh, and it smells like a dream! That's right, it's scented!

Now, I was not sure about the entire scented idea, because I have three Revlon scented nail colors that are fruity and bright and kind of nauseating so I only ever use them on my toes. But, after talking with Gabrielle, I wanted to try the scented polishes she makes. I'm glad I did. It's not overpowering at all. My eyes have yet to water. No headache. It's subtle, but lovely. This polish is plumeria scented. I believe it's an "as you wish" type situation.

Also, I love her labels. They're coated, which is superb, so light moisture doesn't blur then, and they're black and silver. Classy. Cute now and rhinestone on the cap! So fun!

After photographing it, I remembered I has "Follow" in my stash and hasn't used it. I decided they'd be a nice duo. "Follow" was a gift with purchase in February and I don't think she is putting it in her for sale line, but don't quote me on it.

I would describe it as a lightly coral hues glitter topper with various shape, size, and colored iridescent glitter. I took plenty of macro shots to try to show the variation. Of course, Spencer kept trying to get my phone so I gave up pretty quickly. This also went on fantastically, coverage was not an issue- glitter disperses well and lies flat! I probably didn't need a top coat to be honest, but put one on anyway.

And, I was delightfully surprised that you could smell the plumeria even after the glitter and topcoat! What?! Yeah. Lighter than before but still there!

Picture time!

Daring Digits - Star Gazer

Awkward disclaimer: I bought this. Not a sponsored post.

I googled earlier and found no swatches of Daring Digits - Star Gazer. What?! It's SOOOO pretty! I couldn't believe it. Maybe they are just buried somewhere.

Anyway. My other mani was too flashy to keep, and because I was all jacked up on caffeine during nap time, I decided to paint my nails again.

I chose NOPI - Khloe had a Little Lam Lam as my base. Two coats. It's a rich, dark teal. It's fab.

And then... The beauty that is Star Gazer.

Can be purchased at www.ddpolish.com if you're interested.

It's a clear base with teal tiny glitter, copper small glitter, and little black stars. It's gorgeous in the bottle!

It applies smoothly. Dries quick. Goes on fairly evenly. The stars in my particular bottle seem plastered to the side and even though I had it sitting upside down for quite a long time and rolled it between my palms a while, I only was able to get two stars out. It was kind of disappointing in principle, but you can't see them well over this super dark teal anyway so it was kind of nice to save them for another time!

I love it glossy. Love it matte. Matte photos are last.

Yes, indeed, this polish is amazing. It reminds me of a galaxy when over the teal. Or Cleopatra. Or a peacock that got whapped so hard it's seeing stars. Haha.

If it wasn't currently sold out, I would recommend you go buy it now.
