Okay, this isn't really an ode. Bit the title was more clever than: rant.
This is about polish brushes, though. Comments, thoughts, and/or suggestions appreciated.
I know that it can take quite a while to empty a bottle of nail polish. I've honestly only done it a few times.
Sometimes, it's nearly impossible due to the brushes.
Frankly, I think mini bottle brushes can be some of the worst. You can use about half before it gets to be a giant pain and then you just sort of give up. At least I do.
They aren't the only issue though, lets be honest. Though some are better/longer than others, I think they are all personally frustrating.
I know that realistically you could dump some polish out or shake it or hold it upside down, but I don't have the time or the patience for that. So... It's usually toss it and buy more if you love it. I don't think it's just me... right?
It's frustratingly wasteful! It's annoying!
Does anyone have an explanation for this? Why do brushes not get closer to the bottom of the bottle? I personally can't think of a reason it would be a bad idea.
I wonder if there is a way to get companies to work toward better brushes. I mean, we pay for the polish and should be able to use it with ease, right?
What brands have longer bridges? Which have shorter?
Is there any way to change this?

Marguerite - Wanderlust Lacquer
Part two of five. A polish I purchased at a discount to swatch and review.

A Medium purple with medium sized aqua hexes, light purple, and small dark purple hexes.
The description is accurate. I love the shade of purple that this crelly (creamy jelly) base is. It's a bit "dusty" and not bold purple. The glitter combination is fun. The light purple appears a bit mauve to me, but I like it!
It goes on well. Two coats were opaque. It dried fairly quickly I think. The glitters lay smooth and I didn't have to fish for them!
My only complaint was that this mini bottle wasn't full. It was probably 3/5 full when I got it. One of the others from my set of 5 was the same, not full. In trying not to be too bummed out because I did get a discount, but still. I like the polish (and the other not full was the one I am most looking forward to) and will wear it again, so it's just sad that I won't get the full mini experience.
Edit: problem solved. Annie is very sweet and apologized sincerely for the bottle mishap.
The sky is getting even darker than this morning and its cold and drizzly out so these were also taken in the natural light of my kitchen.

Anna Banana - Wanderlust Lacquer
Today, I will show you a polish by a pretty new indie line- Wanderlust Lacquer. I actually will have five polish posts over the next few days. I was given the opportunity to purchase these at a discount to swatch and review.

My first review is for "Anna Banana."

A light pink polish with holographic glitter, small pink hexes and larger blue. A perfect addition to your spring outfit.
There appears to be some purple also? And I would say the holographic glitters are of the shred variety. I would call the base actually a medium/candy pink jelly. It's darker than light pink, in my opinion. My swatches below are in the natural light in my kitchen because its drizzling outside.
The jelly base is kind of thin, so I used a nude undies for the swatches. Because it is so thin, the glitter really sinks to the bottom, so you will want to let it sit upside down a while before using it.
That said, it applies well. It dries in a normal time frame, not fast, not slow. I used one thin coat and one thick coat here.
The glitters you have to fish for a little if you haven't set it upside down first, at least in this bottle, but they lie flat and I kind of like that they are a bit more sparse. It's really fun.
I like the way this polish looks on me, and pink is not my favorite color!

So, this is the design Desi and I thought I should do for the contest. (I own all the polishes, this is a non-sponsored post, by the way.)
I've entered into a beginner/new blog nail art contest! This is my first free-hand art manicure! How did I do?
I used some lovely Zoya cremes for the bases, and then Sally Hansen "Black Out" for the mustache gallery. Haha. I painted using my dotting tool! Considering ice had four cups of coffee, I think I did pretty well!
Zoya polishes used, from thumb to piby are: Wednesday, Yummy, Mira, Gweneth, and Arizona. I used two coats each!
I like it best matte.

Someone won A Silicone Deer!
I won't lie, I forgot all about this. Today was... uh... crazy.
Anyway, as we promised, one lucky person who follows our blog via Google Friend Connect would be chosen at random (random.org) to receive a bottle of the custom polish created for Desi and I by GG Couture Nail Lacquer, A Silicone Deer.
My process for choosing was:
- log into blogger and open up our followers list
- screen shot each page
- assign each follower a number
- plug numbers into random.org
- match the number given to the numbered follower
- click on the name and contact from that link...

If I don't hear from Megan with an acceptance and address by 11:30pm CST tomorrow (Wednesday), I will re choose.

I gotta say, I love the way the names of these two polishes come together for a comical title to a blog post.
The manicure I stick with today and am really quite fond if is created using two coats of Essie - Butler Please, and... a little but of Sinful Colors - Hottie.
It's my first attempt at a glitter fade... or is it gradient... manicure. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I just dotted lightly near my cuticle and then fanned it out toward the tip a tad bit, and gave it a second dotting near the cuticle to punch up the sparkle a tad. Sealed it with a coat of Nutri Nail.
No complaints on either polish, which I have owned a little while. My first time using either. But, as always, not the biggest fan of Essie's brush. Ah well.
